Dear Forum,

i want to know the resolution of ADC ICL7106 IC which is commonly used in digital multimeters, i have checked the datasheet but the resolution is mentioned as 1000 counts.

does that mean it is 10bit or 12bit, i have already done a Digital voltmeter project using 8051 and serial 8 bit ADC but its readings does not match with the multimeter.

thanks

hi nischay,
7106 is basically a 31/2 digit +/- 2000 count ADC with inbuilt LCD driver. i.e. u will need a 11 bit ADC to match its resolution.

P.S. : thanks for taking my advise.

thanks pdi,so that means i have to use 12bit ADC to match accuracy of 7106
