Greetings folks,

I had a bunch of Microchip's dsPIC30F family of controllers lying around purposelessly & so I decided to make use of them. I considered the usage of the dsPIC30F4013 specifically as an entry point to the wide family of Microchip's DSC's.

My goals were as follows:

-After looking around the web, I couldn't find any DIY / easy-to-make at home boards featuring the dsPIC to get started with for new comers.
-Simple as possible design to get introduced quickly to the Microchip's family of dsPIC controllers.
- A somehow Arduino like / stackable platform for flexibility to be able to experiment with various other add-ons.
-An LCD for visualizing your output,data...etc.

Enough ranting. Here's a block diagram "a picture is worth a thousand words":

The 82C55A Programmable Peripheral Interface offers additional 24 IO pins with numerous modes of operation so you'll never be in short of IO pins. Make sure you checkout the datasheet.
The EEPROM was intended for storing the touch screen calibration data set & may be small graphics or simply to mess around with!
You can consider using the 82C55A when making your own Arduino shields in case you run into the common issue of not having enough IO ports.

The schematic:

The PCB layout:

The LCD module used is seeedstudio's TFT shield:

The populated PCB looks like so:

Just in case you need a walk-through:

A quick Demo showing some test code running utilizing the TFT display, touch & the PPI

All the code running was intended only for testing purposes, many optimizations are yet to be done. I'll write some libraries once I have enough time.
